Top Ten: Songs from my adolescence and early adulthood.

I recently had a big, fat nostalgia-fest with my roommates about the hilarious (and still pretty quality) music I used to listen to as an awkward and gothy teenager/young adult. I still listen to these songs and get the urge to put on big-stompy-boots (BSBâ„¢), lots of crinoline, jelly bracelets, and black nail polish.

And One – “Get You Closer”
See what I did there? Number one is And One? I’m magic.

Razed in Black – “Oh My Goth!”
I’m not going to address this. This song is solid.

Covenant – “Dead Stars”
My exact words to Max: “That song. Right there. Listen to how happy. LISTEN TO HOW HAPPY!!!” Issues. I have them.

Wolfsheim – “Once in a Lifetime”
This is the saddest happy song I’ve ever heard. That’s how the electrofucks fool you. Hook you with the cute and kill you with the words.

Dir en grey – “Child Prey”
I love this band to a ridiculous degree. I’ve missed a few opportunities to see them live and I’m highly disappointed in myself.

Switchblade Symphony – “Naked Birthday”
I love this woman’s voice. This is crap sound quality, but you get the idea. Moody, black as my soul, etc. etc.

Ohgr – “Pore”
I think you’ll figure out the appropriate time to smile.

Mindless Self Indulgence – “Faggot”
Oooh! You can’t say that on the internets! Regardless, this song is catchy as hell.

Souxsie and the Banshees – “Peek-a-boo”
I’m not going to pretend I liked this song when it came out. I listened to a lot of music when I was a kid, but I don’t remember this song in particular. I definitely got into Souxsie in a big way during high school, though. YOUR APPROVAL IS NEITHER REQUIRED NOR DESIRED.

Gravity Kills – “Guilty”
I love that the entry to this video is 120 Minutes. Oh, MTV. I remember when you actually played music videos.

That about wraps it up, but I always want to hear from you. What’s your Top Ten?
