I'm working on a variety of things this year... After all, I'm turning 30 in a few months (yikes!) so I really should have an idea of what I'm doing with myself.

My main focuses are being more open and honest emotionally, instead of hiding everything behind sarcasm and silence. Also being more open to change. And drinking more water! At least one of those is easy.

I think the hardest thing is that you get so wrapped up in wanting to become a pro dancer. Because you see all these pros out there like Zoe and Rachel and you think or you see in the mirror that you are pulling off these moves. I know when I first started belly dance I though "Yeah I'm the next Rachel Brice". Since, moving to Tucson and seeing the talent in this area I got taken down a notch.

Now it's almost like pulling teeth to try to get me to perform or even go to a class.

Thank you for writing this... I thought about suggesting it as a blog post topic, but since it was a question I personally needed the answer to, it felt a little self-centered to ask.

Also I refuse to admit publicly to how soon I thought I would be able to go pro after taking dance classes. I was naive and had an over-inflated opinion of how much I had improved during my period of self-learning ;)

Yeah, it's kinda lumped together in the post, but I do believe people should start soloing or practicing to solo as soon as possible if that is something that interests them in the slightest.

Yeah I was just rereading and now I see you're discussing solo dance after first year. That step almost seems like its own, a precursor to the other two.
